n the final years of the dictatorship in Spain, in the summer of 1972, and for eight days (26 June/3 July 1972), the “Encuentros de Pamplona” took place, the largest and most significant international avant-garde festival held in Spain, with Luis de Pablo (composer) and José Luis Alexanco (visual artist) as its intellectual leaders.
Xenakis’s music was presented at the Hotel de los Tres Reyes in Pamplona, as part of the exhibition “Automatic generation of plastic and sound forms”, curated by the director of the Centro de Cálculo de Madrid, Ernesto García Camarero.
